Le Marais is an intimate, sophisticated fragrance created by Freddy, perfumer and skincare designer, in London for a close friend and business partner Mariah Walton Bencik and her boutique Le Marais in New Orlean.
It is a perfume born from friendship, creative trust and a shared appreciation for beautiful things — an olfactory portrait of a certain kind of person: confident without arrogance, elegant without effort, and memorable without ever needing to ask for attention.
Inspired by the spirit of Paris's historic Le Marais, the fragrance plays with contrasts. The romance of Turkish rose meets the darkness of incense and patchouli. Luminous red fruits are tempered by spice. Precious woods and warm amber slowly emerge from the shadows, leaving an enveloping, sensual trail upon the skin.
This is Paris viewed through a London lens — polished, mysterious and quietly extravagant.
 
THE STORY
Some perfumes begin with a mood board.
Le Marais began with a friendship.
Freddy created the fragrance specifically for his friend and business partner in London, with the intention of making something deeply personal — a perfume that could carry the character of its wearer rather than simply follow the fashions of the moment.
The inspiration was found in the old streets of Le Marais: grand façades, hidden courtyards, antique boutiques, candlelit restaurants and the wonderfully effortless confidence of Parisian life.
But Freddy did not want to create a conventional Parisian rose.
He wanted something darker.
Something with intrigue.
The opening is generous and almost decadent, with rose, raspberry, black currant and red berries intertwined with the warmth of clove and cinnamon. It is seductive from the first encounter, but there is already something beneath the sweetness — a darker presence waiting to reveal itself.
At the heart, Bulgerian rose takes centre stage, surrounded by patchouli, incense, sandalwood and ylang-ylang. The floral character becomes richer, deeper and more sensual, while incense introduces a beautifully mysterious quality.
Then comes the lasting signature.
 
Incense, sandalwood, musk, benzoin, amber, ambergris, cedar and vanilla create a warm, luxurious foundation that remains close to the skin long after the first impression has disappeared.
The result is not merely a fragrance.
It is a presence.
